20 Struggles Book Lover Deals With

The struggle of having a book obsession is real. Here are some problems every book worm goes through... let's be honest, at least a couple of times a week.

#1. When you get car sick from reading in the car

You even know that it’s going to happen and yet you still open that book up

#2. Reading the next book in a series and getting to the end… ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE’s ANOTHER BOOK THAT WON’T COME OUT FOR ANOTHER YEAR OR TWO!!

Yeah, it’s happened to me a lot. Am I bitter and impatient? Yes. Am I still waiting for the book to come out as we speak? YEP, it's fine, not like I need to be happy or anything.

#3. When a book is getting too intense so you just have to close it and stay away from it for a few days

And when you grab the book again you have to psych yourself up to open it, you know the emotions are going to get you

#4. When a book series ends but you’re not ready to let go so you start reading fan fiction

I'll read anything to take the edge off

#5. When you have kindle unlimited and can only (rent) ten books at a time so then you have to figure out which book you can part with

SPOILER* NONE! just let me keep them all and love them forever AND we won’t have any problems

#6. When you buy a book on AUDIBLE just so that you can hear how they would sound in your head, then go back to read the book and have that voice when the character speaks

Is no one else this obsessed with characters? Just me? K cool.

#7. When you accidentally close your book without your bookmark in it

So you just stare at your book for a couple of seconds, sigh, and grab your book and angrily flip to pages again

#8. When you’re reading late at night then realize you have work or class in a few hours… yet you refuse to put the book down

So now you’re reading while stressfully glancing at the clock… “I swear I’ll put the book down once I finish this chapter” you think to yourself even though you know it’s a lie and you’ll probably just finish the whole book. Who needs sleep?

#9. When people complain that you read too much

Hmmm... go to the club at 9pm at night or stay home in bed in pajamas while drinking coffee or tea and wrapped up in your favorite blanket? Such a hard decision... just kidding the first option would make me have to dress up and frankly, that sounds awful.

#10. When a character in the book does or says something embarrassing so you blush and die a little inside

So you just have to power through and read when all you want to do is skip the entire scene

#11. Reading a book, then watching the movie and thinking the characters that you imagined in your head are way better than the actors

I’m looking at you Shadowhunters TV series. Who else thinks the Jace from the movie is closer to the book description?

#12. Buying eBooks and falling in love with them so then you have to buy the actual copies so you can physically hold them

It’s just nice to physically hold a book you’ve fallen in love with and seeing it on your shelf

#13. Finding a new series and not knowing if you should buy them all at once or buying only one and suffering when you have to wait to go back to the store for the next one

Why is life so hard?

#14. Resisting the urge to discretely open your eBook on your phone while out with friends or family

It’s like yes I want to see and hang out with everyone, but I also can’t get this book out of my head until I know what happens next… the struggle is real.

#15. When someone bribes you with books
“I will buy you that book if you let me play my video game for a few hours while you read.”… An actual sentence from my fiancĂ©… Who am I to say no?

#16. Knowing you will never get a good night’s sleep until you finish the book

You want to know what I just did last week? I finally bought a book light. Goodbye sleep… NO REGRETS!!!

#17. When you Have books you haven’t started yet but you miss reading a series so you re- read the whole series while new books are patiently waiting to be opened

I just need to get these books out of my head and then I’ll read you, I promise

#18. When your life goal is to have a library in your house

You already know how you would set everything up and how your little reading nook would look like. Swoon.

#19. When you start reading a book during the day and you finally look up and it’s night time

I had so many plans! There’s an essay due tomorrow!  Wait... did I even eat today? Good lord... I'm the most unproductive person.

#20. When you want to watch a movie but you know it’s from a book so you have to wait to read before you let yourself see the movie

What if you like the movie but when you read the book you realize the movie is all wrong? I can’t take those chances.

Do you do have to deal with any of these problems? What other bookworm problems can you think of? Let me know in the comments!
