Book Review: Awakened by Brenda K. Davies

So let me start off by telling you guys how I came across this book. So, about two years ago, I actually found it when I was scrolling through the free book section on my Kindle app. I'm so glad I found it because honestly, I've read it about 8 times already, and it's always one of my go- to books if I feel like reading but I'm not emotionally ready to start a new book.
I loved this book SO MUCH. I know I say that about every book I review, but I honestly love Awakened. The love and protectiveness that Liam and Sara have for each other is beautiful. My only critique I have of this book is the subject of vampires and mates, but I can't actually explain this without giving too much away. Sara as a character is not very solid. Her main focus was school but when she meets Liam she just completely forgets about her goals, which doesn't really sit well with me. The character of Liam was actually really good. He knew she had gone through some trauma in her past, and though he was tempted, he let her set the pace of their relationship. He was loyal to not only Sara, but to his best friends, and Sara's as well. The fact that he would put himself in harms way and would do anything ( and I mean anything) to keep Sara safe made me really like him. I honestly wish the character development could have been better as well as explanations of certain things.

" The girl was beautiful; he highly doubted that she had any problem attracting en. Even now, there were a bunch of guys hovering around her like moths to a flame." Pg. 15
" I never thought I could love anyone like I love you. I never thought that I would meet a person like you. I didn't think they existed."
Traumatized by her past, and struggling to move on from it, Sera has spent the past three years of college hiding from the world and content to stay that way. A chance encounter with Liam shatters her sheltered world. Sera is shaken by the strange emotions he arises in her, emotions she never thought she would experience, but she finds herself opening up to him more every day. Harboring a dark and deadly secret of his own, Liam knows he should stay away from Sera as he will only bring her more hurt. However, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to her and unable to deny himself the pleasure only she can bring him.
But when their pasts collide with their present, and Liam’s true nature is revealed, will their love for each other be enough, or will they be torn apart forever?
